About the Event

The people from the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indian Tribe have always used Medicines derived from natural plants for health and healing. This Medicinal Knowledge is passed down through oral tradition so that future generations can carry on, use and practice these ways. After the American Revolution, the Mohican people were uprooted from their Hudson Valley homeland and forced west. Their government is today located in Wisconsin, with other descendants in Ontario and Oklahoma.

Misty Cook, a member of the Mohican tribe, has spent many years studying these Medicines and, during an upcoming visit to her ancestral homeland from the reservation in Wisconsin, will be staying at our farm to teach about traditional medicinal plants. Join us for a presentation followed by a walk through the woods and meadows to learn about Mohican medicines in their natural setting! Proceeds from registration fees will go to Misty and her family for their time and travel expenses.

Advance registration for this event is required, and space is limited. Note that this admission for this event (and our Northeastern Native Birdlore walk and presentation on Saturday June 1st!) is included in an Eco Camp reservation. Book a Weekend Stay to take a deep dive into local Native history and culture!
