About the Event
The people from the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indian Tribe have always used Medicines derived from natural plants for health and healing. This Medicinal Knowledge is passed down through oral tradition so that future generations can carry on, use and practice these ways. After the American Revolution, the Mohican people were uprooted from their Hudson Valley homeland and forced west. Their government is today located in Wisconsin, with other descendants in Ontario and Oklahoma.
Misty Cook, a member of the Mohican tribe, has spent many years studying these Medicines and, during an upcoming visit to her ancestral homeland from the reservation in Wisconsin, will be staying at our farm to teach about traditional medicinal plants. Join us for a presentation followed by a walk through the woods and meadows to learn about Mohican medicines in their natural setting!
