About the Event
Autumn was a time when local native people collected nuts and set brush fires to hunt game in the hills. By late October, families would move from their main settlements to their hunting cabins for this wild autumn harvest. Join us at Winnakee Nature Preserve for a tour guided by ethnoecologist Justin Wexler of Wild Hudson Valley, an explorer of Hudson Valley native culture, language, and history for twenty years. These walks view local ecosystems through the lens of Hudson Valley indigenous language and folklore.
