About the Event
Few of our native shrubs have as many uses as the elderberry: a source of different medicines, syrups, jam/jelly, dye, and even wood for blowguns! Join us on our Forest Farm for an exploration of the American Elderberry and its many uses. We will begin with an outdoor presentation and walk where we will really get to know the plant. Before leaving, participants will have the opportunity to harvest elderberries and/or elderflowers to bring home. Depending on the weather this summer, both elderberries and elderflowers might be available for harvest, or only elderberries.
Book a stay at Wild Hudson Valley Eco Camp and enjoy a full weekend of immersive experiences included in your camping reservation:
· Friday Night Fire – Gather under the stars for s'mores and a cozy campfire.
· Saturday Night Walk – A twilight exploration of the nighttime world.
· Sunday All About Elderberries – Discover the many traditional uses of this fascinating native species.
